Police Identify Man Killed in Towson Mall Shooting

Police say Rodney Vest Pridget, 19, was the victim of Monday night's shooting outside the Towson Town Center.

UPDATE (1:15 p.m.) — Mall officials have released a statement wih regards to the shooting incident at Towson Town Center Tuesday night. 

“The safety and security of our shoppers, retailers and employees are our top concerns every day, not just when incidents occur," said mall general manager Charles Crerand in a statement emailed to Patch.

Crerand reiterated that there are few details available as far as a motive, but that he and his staff do not believe the shooting was a random incident.

"We are thankful for the cooperation and support of the Baltimore County Police Department on property last night, and throughout their investigation of this incident. We will continue to pledge our support and resources in their investigation,” Crerand said in the statement.

A 19-year-old man was identified by police Tuesday morning as the victim in the .

Rodney Vest Pridget, who police would only say lived in the Baltimore area, was found shot to death outside Nordstrom at around 6:20 p.m. Monday.

"Detectives do not believe that this is a random act, but additional details cannot be provided due to the ongoing investigation," police spokeswoman Detective Cathleen Batton said in a statement. "Detectives are currently investigating a number of leads, including video footage recovered from the mall."

Police do not have any suspects, and ask anyone with information about the crime to contact them at 410-307-2020.

Several hours after the shooting, police were seen escorting a woman to the crime scene, where she wept loudly.

The shooting was the first homicide at Towson Town Center since 2005, when St. Paul's teacher and administrator William Bassett was killed in a botched robbery. Following that incident, mall management stepped up security and new county laws required shopping centers to install security cameras.
