AVFD Issues Parade Apology

Marching units informed of suggestive and provocative performances.

In the wake of an ongoing debate that continues on Facebook and , Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department issued a statement Wednesday morning apologizing for offensive behavior in .

The statement in full:

Arbutus Community,
The Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department is aware of the questionable display put on by several units during our Annual Carnival Parade on Monday, July 18th. In response to this concern we have informed all of the marching units in writing that provocative and/or suggestive performances will not be tolerated and will be cause for removal at future events. Additionally we will be reviewing our invite lists to ensure those units participating in our activities promote an atmosphere that is consistent with the family values of our community. I apologize for any offensive behavior portrayed during this year's parade and welcome other feedback on ways we can improve our carnival in the future.
