AVFD Fire-Rescue Log

Recent activity of Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department.

During the period Dec. 18-25, AVFD received 75 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

Dec. 18: At 6:13 p.m., a building fire was reported at Simkins Industries on River Road at Thistle Road in Catonsville. Crews from the Arbutus, Woodlawn and Violetville volunteer station and Catonsville, Halethorpe, Westview and Woodlawn career stations responded. A vacant building fire was extinguished.

Dec. 18: At 5:57 p.m., an appliance fire was reported at UMBC. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded and removed smoke from the building.

Dec. 18: At 7:59 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 3800-block of Annapolis Road in English Consul. Crews from the English Consul, Arbutus and Lansdowne volunteer stations and Halethorpe career station responded and extinguished the fire.

Dec. 22: At 9:59 p.m., a building fire was reported on the 6300-block of Frederick Road in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville, Halethorpe and Westview career stations responded. No fire was found.

Dec. 22: At 10:08 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported on I-695 between Exits 12 and 13 in Catonsville. Crews from the Arbutus and Woodlawn volunteer stations responded to find property damage, but no injuries.

Dec. 23: At 5:18 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported at Baltimore National Pike at North Rolling Road in Westview. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville and Westview career station responded. One critically injured person was rescued and flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
