Recent activity of Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department.

During the period Sept. 18-25, AVFD received 65 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

Sept. 20: At 10:22 p.m., a person experiencing a stroke was reported on the 100 block of Waelchli Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded. One critically ill person was taken to a local hospital.

Sept. 21: At 2:54 a.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 1200 block of Stevens Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded to find a malfunctioning air conditioning unit.

Sept 22: At 3:47 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 6000 block of Mary Ann Lane in Howard County. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded to find a smoke test being performed.

Sept. 22: At 8:17 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with entrapment was reported on the 4900 block of Wilkens Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded. One person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to a local hospital.

Sept. 24: At 9:19 p.m., an assault with injury was reported at Hollins Ferry Road at Rambo Court in Lansdowne. Crews from the AVFD responded and transported one seriously injured patient to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
