Recent activity of Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department.

During the period Aug. 14-21, AVFD received 71 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

Aug. 15: At 8:49 a.m., a swift water rescue was reported on the 1700-block of Winans Avenue in Halethorpe. Crews from the Arbutus and Middle River volunteer stations and Halethorpe career station responded to find that the water had receded and the victim had self-extricated from the vehicle.

Aug. 15: At 9:32 a.m., a swift water rescue was reported on Halethorpe Farms Road at Hollins Ferry Road in Halethorpe. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded to find that the water had receded and the stalled vehicle was able to proceed.

Aug. 15: At 2:43 p.m., a truck fire was reported on Hollins Ferry Road at I-895 in Halethorpe. Crews from the Arbutus and Lansdowne volunteer stations and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded. A box truck fire was extinguished.

Aug. 15: At 5:22 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 1300-block of Poplar Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded. An attic fire was extinguished.

Aug. 17: At 9:06 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported on I-695 between Exits 12 and 13 in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe and Woodlawn career stations responded. Four seriously injured people were taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
