AVFD Fire-Rescue Log

Here's a sampling of the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department's recent activity.

During the period July 3-10, AVFD received 70 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

July 7: At 8:35 p.m., on the 1900 block of Halethorpe Avenue in Halethorpe. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe and Texas career stations responded. One person was rescued from a vehicle in standing water. No injuries were reported.

July 7: At 9:42 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported at Wilkens Avenue at Beechfield Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded. One seriously injured person was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

July 9: At 9:44 a.m., an was reported in the Avalon area of Patapsco State Park in Relay. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe and Westview career stations responded and recovered from the water.

July 9: At 7:37 p.m., a natural gas leak was reported on the 4200 block of Gateway Terrace in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded. No leak was found and the scene was turned over to BGE.

July 9: At 8:20, a at the Days Inn at 5701 Baltimore National Pike in Westview. Crews from the Arbutus, English Consul, Lansdowne, Liberty Road, Lutherville, Pikesville, Providence, Reisterstown, Violetville and Woodlawn volunteer stations and Brooklandville, Catonsville, Dundalk, Eastview, Franklin, Garrison, Halethorpe, Randallstown, Texas Towson, Westview and Woodlawn career stations responded. A fire on the seventh floor was extinguished. Two people with non-life-threatening injuries were taken to a local hospital.
