AVFD Fire-Rescue Log

Here's a sampling of the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department's recent activity.

During the period June 5-12, AVFD received 81 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

June 7: At 9:01 a.m., a motor vehicle accident with entrapment was reported on Eastbound I-70 between exits 87-90 in Westview. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville and Westview career stations responded. Three seriously injured people were rescued from the vehicle and transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

June 9: At 12:10 a.m., a motor vehicle collision was reported at Kenwood Avenue at Wilkens Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from AVFD responded to find property damage but no injuries.

June 10: At 8:54 p.m., a person experiencing trouble breathing was reported on the 1300 block of Ridge Road in Catonsville. Crews from AVFD responded and transported one seriously ill person to a local hospital.

June 10: At 10:10 p.m., an apartment fire was reported on the 6300 block of Monika Place in Westview. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville, Randallstown, Westview and Woodlawn career stations responded. A dryer fire was extinguished.

June 11: At 4:44 a.m., an unconscious person was reported at UMBC. Crews from the AVFD responded and transported one critically ill person to a local hospital.
