Here's a sampling of recent activity at the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department.

During the period Apr. 28 - May 5, AVFD received 68 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

Apr. 29: At 1:28 p.m., a fire was reported outside Superfresh, 5101 East Drive in Arbutus. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Halethorpe career stations responded. An outside trash fire was extinguished.

Apr. 30: At 5:15 a.m., a fall injury was reported at UMBC. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville career station responded. One critically injured person was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Apr. 30: At 2:21 p.m., a truck fire was reported on I-95 at Caton Avenue in Violetville. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career stations responded. A trash truck fire was extinguished.

May 3: At 11:30 a.m., a motorcycle accident was reported at Edmondson Avenue at Rolling Road in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville career station responded. Two critically injured people were transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

May 4: At 11:39 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported on Wilkens Avenue at I-695 in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded. One person with non-life-threatening injuries was transported to a local hospital.
