Arrests End Robbery Spree

Two Baltimore men were charged with a string of armed robberies in the city and county.

Two Baltimore men arrested on Aug. 13 are responsible for "orchestrating a robbery spree" that targeted businesses in Lansdowne and the Lakeland area of the city, according to police.

A joint investigation by city and county police led to the arrests of Ryan Avon Leonard, 20, of the 2800 block of Hinsdale Dr., and Tayron Garrick Jones, 19, of the 2900 block of Mallview Rd.

According to police, Leonard and Jones are responsible for at least nine armed robberies of stores in the vicinity of Hollins Ferry Road and West  Patapsco Avenue, including:

  • Dunkin Donuts at 2001 W. Patapsco Ave. on July 24 and Aug. 6
  • Bargain Cigarettes at 2109 W. Patapsco Ave. on July 19 and Aug. 3
  • 7-11 at 3204 Hollins Ferry Rd. on June 10 and July 13
  • Young's Food Market at 2600 Hollins Ferry Rd. on July 3

In addition, Leonard and Jones conducted at least two armed robberies in Lansdowne, according to police.

"We are still investigating these suspects," said Baltimore County police spokesperson Cpl. Cathleen Batton.

"We believe they are responsible for two robberies in the Lansdowne area, and are looking whether they may be linked to others," she said.

Leonard and Jones were identified through surveillance video and intelligence acquired from the community, according to police. A tip ultimately led police to locating the suspects and placing them under arrest, according to officials.

The suspects are charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, assault, theft and use of a handgun during the commission of a felony, police said.

Excellent work on behalf of both Police departments. Judge, please make the right decision and don't negate the work already expended by law enforcement.
