The Tale of the Unwanted Doughnut

Chocolate doughnuts, mini...how can you pass them up???

I bet there are numerous folks out there who have delighted in buying a box or bag of chocolate doughnuts (won’t name brands)….but, they come in a nice little package, beautiful mini doughnuts. Perhaps I should be more clear regarding the type…very small, mini doughnuts covered in a chocolate conglomeration that when first taking a bite one must take a double check to be sure it is not chocolate colored plastic with a little rich doughnut trapped inside. I don’t know why, but I like them anyway.

Well I happened, about two weeks ago, to accidentally drop one in the grass. I started to pick it up, but thought oh heck, let the birds, fox, deer…some hungry little animal have it. Went to check on it..just for fun (about three days later)  Still there!  A week later…still there! Well, I’ll be darn…that has been two weeks ago and guess what. Yep!! You guessed it!!  t is still there in one piece.  Deer foot prints abounding, lots of birds, hawks, and I am sure some fox….no one of them is interested in this little ole doughnut….not even a field mouse or two or even ants for heaven sake.

Of course, I thought, “ this could have been a science project for my 4th grade niece.”  And then, I ask why don’t the animals, who are always hungry, want this delightful doughnut?  Mmmmmm…think I will hasten to think more before I decide to eat one.  Could it be the kinda “plastic” texture really could be….uh uh…nahhhhh.  Will I continue to consume them(never in great quantity any how) truth be told, probably so….assuring  myself that the other creatures simply don’t like doughnuts….mmmmm.
