PHOTOS: Vets Honored on 4th of July

Annual tribute at Arbutus community flag by Dewey Lowman American Legion Post 109.

Residents lined Oregon Drive as the , along with elected officials and the , paid tribute to American men and women who have served the country.

Aside from the Original 27 Flags unit, the occasion included the post's newest unit, the Legion Riders motorcycle group.

After Post 109 chaplain Ed Godman's led a prayer, Pat Miller recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Cass Schreiner sang the National Anthem. Brief speeches were given by Post Commander Roberty Haney and councilman Tom Quirk, who spoke on behalf of local elected officials including state Sen. Ed Kasemeyer and Dels. James Malone and Steven DeBoy.
