The Making of the United States Capitol: Selecting a Building Design and Location

Take a virtual tour of the U.S.
Capitol building while visiting the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and
Museum.  Steven Livengood, Chief Guide
United States Capitol Historical Society, will give an account of the design
and construction of the capitol and how it conveys the ideals of the founding
fathers.  His talk will include a
discussion of its location as well as the choice of a survey team,
particularly, the selection of Andrew Ellicott and Benjamin Banneker.  Afterward, view reproduced maps of the
federal territory, artifacts, and a short video visualizing early Washington. 6:15-8:00pm
