Internet Safety for Parents

The Compass Academy Volunteer Association and The Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, will hold a program on Internet Safety for parents concerned about the risks and potential hazards for children who are or about to be regular internet users.

The ICAC Task Force is comprised of police agencies from around the state. It's mission is to protect children from computer facilitated sexual exploitation and raise awareness.

Last year, Detective Raut from the ICAC Task Force gave a very informative and highly well-received presentation to the students at Compass Academy. We received several requests from parents wanting to become better informed about the very real danger of on-line child sexual exploitation, how to minimize the risks and hazards and to gain advice about other serious problems including cyber-bullying, sexting, harassment and internet usage/actions that can result in youth becoming involved with the criminal justice system.

This program is open to family, friends, and supporters within the Compass Academy community as well as parents from the surrounding neighborhood.
