It’s a Bird. It’s a Plane. It’s a Rocket?
Tomorrow night a rocket will launch through the mid-Atlantic skies.
Get your binoculars out.
A U.S. Air Force rocket carrying a Department of Defense satellite is scheduled for launch Tuesday, June 28, from a NASA facility at Wallops Island, Virginia.
According to a NASA representative, the rocket should be visible from Baltimore County providing that the weather is not heavily overcast. The rocket’s visibility has a long range is it might also be seen from southern New York, North Carolina, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania.

According to the NASA website, the satellite, “is an important step to demonstrate the capability to meet emerging and persistent war-fighter needs.”
The rocket is scheduled to launch between 8:28-11:28 p.m.

Backup launch days are June 29-July 10.
