Visions for Vacancies: Valley Center Movie Theater

What would you like to see occupy this vacant theater?

Located in Valley Center off of Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills, the space that used to be home to AMC Loews Valley Center 9 has been vacant for quite a while now.

The lights inside still go on at night, but it's hard to tell what's still inside since the doors are sealed up.

The theater has a bit of an unfortunate history. Paul Schrum, a 62-year-old Pikesville resident, was randomly shot dead about 20 minutes into a showing of "X-Men: The Last Stand" in 2006. The theater remained open for a number of years after the shooting.

What sort of business do you think would you like to see in this space? Tell us in the comments.

Is there a commercial vacancy you'd like to discuss? If so be sure to email editor Marc Shapiro (marc.shapiro@patch.com) and maybe it will be featured in the next Visions for Vacancies.

A shooting range would be great at this location, right now have to drive to Hunt Valley.

Level the joint and build a Drive-in Theater. Would make two in the county, and Bengies is still going strong. (shades of my youth.lol)

It has to become something special and unique to bring people back there. I like the idea of a drive-in. But, I also like the idea of a FUNLAND type of building with a Larry Sheets type of venue like Westminster has... glo-golf, laser tag, video games, bumper cars, etc. It could be a place where families could host a birthday party, etc.

How about CCBC Community college classrooms? Already has auditorium seating.

I would personally love to bring foreign films to that location. At affordable rates. Host movie premieres as I do at other theaters with the actors in attendance. I am soooo interested in managing this building and revamping it for my own business. Unfortunately, the building has been sold per the realtor Jack Devillier. Do you all know who purchased it? Perhaps I can show them my proposal for business. If anyone needs to I can be reached via text on 240-232-6461. Thanks Barbsie
