Treat of the Week

Haiku Frozen Yogurt a healthful indulgence.

The new Haiku Frozen Yogurt that opened June 7 at the Wilkens Beltway Plaza, 4648 Wilkens Avenue, is a welcome addition for the diet-conscious. Low-fat frozen yogurt can be a healthful alternative, particularly topped with one of a dozen fresh fruits that Haiku provides.

Oh, but that's how it starts. Sure, the fresh cubed mango, kiwi and strawberry are good for you. But then you look at the spread of 36 toppings -- colorful jimmies, crushed cookies, nuts, Mike & Ike's, M&M, and some exotic Asian treats -- and before you know it you've created something never before seen on earth.

In fact, if you factor in the ten different flavors of creamy frozen yogurt -- ranging from traditional favorites like vanilla and chocolate to enticing choices like cheesecake, mango and coconut -- there are no fewer than 1,296,000 different combinations you can make.
