Parade To Kick Off 75th Fire Department Carnival

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department all week, with games and raffles to a Beyoncé concert and a sports package raffle with signed items from the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles.

It's that time of year again!

The Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department will be kicking off this year's AVFD Carnival tonight at 7 with a parade down Oregon Avenue and East Drive, ending at carnival grounds at 5200 Southwestern Blvd.

The celebration from Monday to Saturday will feature rides, games such as Bingo, a beer garden and two raffles. Tickets for the rides are $23 per bracelet and are sold every night, carnival chairman Glen Peacock said.

Reagan from MIX 106.5 radio will be holding a raffle on Wednesday to give away two tickets to see Beyoncé at the Verizon Center in December and a month of Papa Johns Pizza. All week, the department will be selling a sports package raffle that includes autographs, posters and more from Baltimore Ravens and Orioles players, Peacock said.

From Monday to Thursday, the carnival lasts from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and from 7 p.m. till midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The parade will include primarily businesses and other organizations in the Arbutus community. Participants should arrive for the parade lineup at 6 p.m. at Tom Day and Southwestern boulevards, according to the department website.
