This Weekend in the Arbutus Area

The HUB/C’Ville Bikes hosts Oystoberfest on Saturday to celebrate its grand opening at 821 Frederick Rd. in Catonsville. The party includes a family-friendly activities, including demonstrations and interactive games, along with beer, bands, bikes, oysters and more. The fun starts at 10 a.m.

Lansdowne Volunteer Fire Department's Haunted Firehouse is open 7-10 p.m. on Friday and Sayurday, and 6-9 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children 3-11 years old.

Nightmares From Elmridge Haunted House, at the corner of Elmridge Avenue and East Drive, is open from 7-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night, as well as Oct 29-31. Admission is $9 for adults and $5 for children 5-10 years old.

The Arbutus Recreation and Parks Council is beginning a new jump rope program, and invites the community to watch a jump rope demonstration by the Howard County Kangraroo Kids at Arbutus Middle School, beginning at 10 a.m.

The Arbutus Senior Center is holding its second annual Holiday Craft and Gift Shop on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arbutus Recreation Center.

The Ravens Roost 97 is holding its Boo Bash on Saturday, 8 p.m. until midnight at Arbutus Town Hall. The $20 admission includes draft beer and setups. The event features a costume contest, rum punch, jello shooters, a DJ, a 50/50 raffle and door prizes.

Due to the possibility that Frankenstorm Sandy moves into this area, Arbutus Improvement Association has postponed its Sunday meeting until Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at Leon's.
