This Weekend in the Arbutus Area

The Arbutus Community Association serves up its Thanksgiving dinner at Arbutus Town Hall on Friday, Nov. 2, starting at 6 p.m. Dinner includes turkey, gravy, stuffing with sausage and without, mashed potato, candied sweet potato, sauerkraut, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls and jelly. For desserts: Apple pie, pumpkin pie and whipped cream. Beer and soda at the bar. Dinner is $10 for adults 16 and older, $5 for kids 5 to 15 years old.

Dinner guests are asked to bring a canned good or non-perishable food for Southwest Emergency Services.

Wayne McDowell is hosting a post-Sandy, pre-election McHappy Hour at the Dewey Lowman American Legion Post 109 on Friday Nov. 2, from 4-6 p.m. McDowell will buy the first 25 adult beverages.

Baltimore County is holding its fall household hazardous waste disposal event at the Western Acceptance Facility at 3310 Transway in Halethorpe from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4.

Residents may bring household paints and chemicals, lawn and garden chemicals, automotive fluids, cleaning solvents, swimming pool chemicals, re-chargeable batteries, medicines, mercury thermometers and thermostats, fluorescent light bulbs, fireworks, ammunition and other hazardous household waste. Trash will not be accepted at the event.
