New Dog Wash Opens in Lansdowne

Business is a one-stop shop for washing your car—and your dog.

George Panchigar has owned the BP station on Hammonds Ferry Road for 21 years. The gas station also has a repair shop that many Lansdowne citizens have frequented. Three years ago, George decided to open up a car wash next to his BP station. The car wash is cheap, quick and gets the job done.

Last year, while on a trip in San Francisco, Panchigar saw a self-serve dog wash. It was the first one he had ever seen. Months later, he decided to open his own.  Located next to his car wash, the dog wash has been open for two months, and has received many patrons.

Similar to a car wash, the dog wash is self serve—customers put money in the machine and choose what they want. A small dog will probably cost $5, a medium-sized dog will cost around $7, and a large dog will cost around $10.

The machine has doggy shampoo, oatmeal shampoo, tearless shampoo, conditioner, flea/tick treatment, and even skunk odor remover. There is a wet vacuum and dryer that helps dry your dog very fast.

For many people that own a large dog, this is ideal. You won’t have to pay more than $50 for a bath, and you can do it yourself. There’s a ramp for the dog to walk up and you can even purchase a poncho so you don’t get drenched. The shampoo and conditioner comes right out of the hose.  It’s very easy and quick.

Panchigar and his staff are very helpful and friendly. Next time your car needs a good wash, bring your dog along.  Fido will enjoy cleaning up just as much.
