What one thing do you think could be done immediately to improve the safety of cyclists in the community?
That question was posed on Patch Facebook pages across the state on Friday and responses ranged from thoughtful solutions for sharing the road to rants about cyclists.
"Something to 'immediately' be done is putting up cautionary road signs warning motorists of roads that have heavy cyclist usage," wrote Alex Spiroff.
Others simply suggested that cyclists should be banned from roadways—especially those that don't have shoulders or designated bike lanes. A few urged people to be more patient and respectful of others.
"I know this is going to blow everyone's minds, but cyclists own cars too and pay taxes, have families, own houses, and you know, want to live," wrote Michael Wagner. "So try not to kill us with your vehicles in your rush to get to your church/job/whatever."
