Local Business Collaborates with Nonprofit to Provide Cars to Baltimore Residents in Need of Personal Transportation

In partnership with Vehicles for Change, Inc. (VFC), Baltimore-based internet marketing and web design firm, CC&A Web Development will award two vehicles to Baltimore families in need of personal transportation in a ceremony on May 30 at 3:30 p.m.

In providing a grant to VFC, CC&A sponsored the refurbishment of two used vehicles donated to the program by the public. In accordance with VFC’s program, recipients will pay just $750 for their car. VFC President Marty Schwartz will give a brief speech highlighting VFC’s partnership with CC&A, and CC&A President and CEO, Steve Taormino will officially present each set of car keys to the recipients.

“VFC collaborates with numerous local businesses and organizations. Our programs are truly a community effort,” said President of VFC, Marty Schwartz. “We rely on the support of sponsorships, partnerships and public donations to drive our program and fulfill our mission of empowering families with financial challenges to achieve economic and personal independence through car ownership and technical training.”

Both recipients of CC&A’s collaboration with VFC are Baltimore City residents in need of personal transportation to maintain their jobs and support their families. Receiving these vehicles will significantly decrease their daily commute to work. It currently takes single mother of three, Davita Corbin, two hours to commute to work each day, including dropping off her children at their day care provider. She estimates the same commute will take only 30 to 40 minutes with personal transportation. Receiving this vehicle will improve Brandon King’s access to work, as he is currently in construction and routinely works on transit projects, such as detours. As a father of two, this vehicle will also allow King to attend family events.

“It’s an absolute honor to be involved with an organization like VFC. Their passion for changing the lives of families is second to none,” said President and CEO of CC&A, Steve Taormino. “After learning about how the car is awarded so someone can better their career, get their children to after-school programs, or better their own education, getting involved was one the easiest decisions I’ve ever made. I know, without a doubt, that my involvement will change someone’s life in a way I can’t begin to imagine, and I am honored to be part of it.”

The car award ceremony will take place in concurrence with VFC’s first ever “Donor Day,” where donors of vehicles to VFC’s program will have the opportunity to tour VFC’s facilities and meet the staff. Donors will also witness a detailing demonstration by VFC’s Center for Automotive Careers program, enjoy light refreshments, and may attend the CC&A car award ceremony.

“At VFC, we are grateful to and value each and every individual who contributes to our programs,” said VFC Marketing Director, Jen Harrington. “With ‘Donor Day,’ we hope to connect on a deeper level with our vehicle donors and give them the opportunity to see how their donations impact the lives of others. We hope to hold this event multiple times a year.”
