Sunday, Sunday

Sunday Deals

Sunday morning for me started with breakfast at Paul's with the family and heading on down to the Dollar General for a $1.50 Sunday Sun paper.

When I arrived I had two problems; first, was I didn't have any cash and second I had no change for the metal box that holds the papers. So, I jumped back in my car and went over to the Halethorpe Pharmacy and there I purchased four Sunday Sun papers for $2 each. Not happy about the extra expense, but it happens and life goes forward.

We finally headed home and started our Sunday morning ritual which is my mini me and I clipping coupons and chatting it up like two little old ladies. I've not only grown to love the saving money part of couponing, but involving my kids gives us that much more QT together.

In my scissoring travels I came across a coupon/deal at Boston Chicken Market. If you are looking for a semi-healthier fast food meal option to feed your family Boston Chicken Market is tasty, offers vegetables with their meals, and can be fairly inexpensive if you can get a good deal which I did. The advertisement read that if you purchase a $25 gift card you get a $5 bonus card and they also gave you a $2 off coupon on a $10 purchase or a $4 off coupon on a $20 purchase.  GREAT! And I'm off to get a decent meal for Sunday dinner.  To make a long story short. The Boston Market that I went to did not have the bonus cards in their store as of yet.  he manage honored the advertisement and gave me the full discount on my meal. She was extremely pleasant!

1 whole chicken

4 large sides

4 pieces of corn bread

1 small side of creamed spinach

Total:  $30.25

$4 off $20 purchase

$5 off from the missing bonus card

tax $1.29

I paid:  $22.53

We even have leftovers for tomorrow evening!  To me, sweet SUCCESS.

One last deal that I think is worth speaking of. My daughter wants the DS XL for Christmas.  've been waiting to see what kind of bundle deals the stores will be offering before committing. In the paper today Toys R Us had a bundle deal where you get the DS XL with a game for $169 and get back a $25 gift card. So my shopping side kicks (my mother and grandmother) and I trucked out to "talk with santa" and took full advantantage of this deal. All together I purchased the DS XL, the Donkey Kong game that came with it, closed out that transaction which gave us the GC, and used the GC for a new case which was about $20.

All in all it was a great shopping weekend. My grandmother even ended up getting a 30-ish pound turkey for Thanksgiving at Giant for only $12.

Happy couponing and I would love to hear about your couponing secrets and successes.
