Washington Boulevard Closed By Spill
Crews cleaning hydraulic fluid spilled on inbound lanes from Sulphur Spring Road to Walmart.
The inbound lanes of heavily-traveled Washington Boulevard were closed Thursday morning by a hydraulic fluid spill that affected the roadway from Sulphur Spring Road to the Lansdowne Station Shopping Center.
The incident began at around 10:05 a.m., police said.
According to work crews spreading absorbent material on the roadway, an unknown truck appears to have leaked a large amount of hydraulic fluid while traveling on Washington Boulevard.
The spill affected one side of the busy avenue as well as ramps to the inner and outer loops of the Beltway.
Police officials said that three fire department vehicles, eight police cars and vehicles from Maryland Department of the Environment were on the scene Thursday morning.
