Viewfinder: Telling Stories Out of School

On Wednesday afternoon, students in William Shewbridge's Intercultural Video Production class from UMBC were in a meeting room at Arbutus Branch Library to add more chapters to the Arbutus Stories project.

The project involves helping people shape their recollections into a written short story that is then audio-recorded and augmented with video, images and other artifacts.

Arbutian John Roth shared a vintage newspaper and stories from the Fair of the Iron Horse, the centennial celebration of the railroad held in Halethorpe in 1927. Library director Gail Ross talked about her first day on the job in the old library on Benson Avenue and Sulphur Spring Road. Another story about the Arbutus Branch library was contributed by Jennie Gill. Gloria Ries told a story about growing up in Lansdowne.
