Teen Charged in Halloween Triple Shooting

Baltimore Highlands shooting left Daquan Burks, 16, dead

 

Baltimore County Police have arrested and charged Sterlin Corday Matthews, 17, of the 1800-block of N. Bentalou Street, in Baltimore, with the October 31, murder of Daquan Burks, 16.

Burk and two others were shot near the 100-block of Twin Circle Way on October 31. When police arrived on the scene, they found Burks lying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two additional victims of the shooting had been transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

According to police, Matthews was identified as a suspect in an investigation. Matthews was arrested on November 9 and is being charged as an adult.

The motive for the murder is unknown. Police initially speculated that the incident may have been the result of a dispute that occurred on a footbridge over Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
