POLL: Watching Orioles or Presidential Debate Tonight?

As Romney and Obama square off in Denver, two baseball battles will take place in St. Petersburg and New York.

Two opponents with competing ideologies will test their mettle in front of an audience of millions across the country tonight.

That describes the presidential debate tonight in Denver, sure. But for baseball fans, it's the story of the American League East.

The Baltimore Orioles face the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg (first pitch at 7:10 p.m.), while the division-leading New York Yankees host their season finale against the Boston Red Sox (first pitch at 7:05 p.m.). The latter game will air on ESPN in the Baltimore area.

A Yankees loss and Orioles win would tie the division lead and force a game 163 between the two in Baltimore, with the winner declared division champ and loser sent to face either Texas or Oakland at home, as The Baltimore Sun reports.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney are preparing for the first debate ahead of the general election in November. For Romney, who still finds himself behind in most major polls, the first debate is his "last best chance to turn things around," former George W. Bush adviser Mark McKinnon told the Denver Post this week.

More than 50 million people are expected to tune into the debate, which starts at 9 p.m. will be moderated by broadcaster Jim Lehrer (the former "PBS NewsHour" anchor) and aired live on all major networks and news channels.

Which of the two contests are you keeping your eye on? Will you be flipping back and forth between the news and the games? Checking your phone obsessively? Tell us in the comments.

Hand picked journalists lobbing softball questions...that doesnt sound like a debate of the issues of the day, but more of a glorified press conference...I'll be watching baseball

and results like this is why Obama is in office!! People need to pay attention and not just vote with a party or person. Everyone complains but so many don't even follow what is going on!! We need to take our country back before it gets even worse!!

I don't know. I always have to watch "the experts" after the debate to see who won because the Republican contender paints such an different view of what he wants for the country than anything I'd think of the USA as being that he/she always comes out on the losing end. I think I listen, read and watch much more politics than most anyone I know, so I fit in to those who pay attention and, in the national picture at least, the party representing a so called conservative viewpoint, on most policy points, is the farthest thing from which I've learned through my many years as a natural born citizen here this country was created.

Yankees winning 5-1, O's losing 0-3; both games in 5th inning.
May as well watch the debates.

Obama is losing - BAD! Same old rhetoric...the educated folks in the middle will see through this while his uneducated base will take it hook line and sinker.

You must have missed what the people at MSNBC saw since they were all down on Obama's performance. You definitely watched more ball that bull from Obama.

Rocco - you mean against everything the media says he is saying on the stump. Great to see what happens when Romney can't be manipulated and BO'B can't be protected by the media. Style vs substance
