Officers Involved in Beltway Motel Shooting Identified

Two officers are on routine administrative leave during the investigation of an Aug. 29 shooting of naked man with assault rifle.

Baltimore County police have identified the two officers involved in at the Beltway Motel early Wednesday morning.

According to police spokesperson Cpl. Cathleen Batton, Officer Kovacevich, a five-year veteran, and Officer Neal, a three-year veteran, are both are assigned to patrol units at .

Both officers are on routine administrative leave during the investigation of the shooting, according to officials.

Baltimore County police do not release the first names of officers in police-involved shootings per an agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police, Batton said.

The suspect, a 42-year-old man who was reportedly firing an assault rifle from his second-floor room, remains hospitalized at University of Maryland, Batton said.

Charges have not yet been filed against the suspect, and police have not released his name.
