Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department received a new ambulance to replace one taken out of service in January.

The new unit retails for about $210,000 before being outfitted with equipment and supplies.

One of only two fire departments in Baltimore County with two advanced life support medic units, more than 80 percent of AVFDs calls--about 1,200 responses annually--are EMS calls.

The new unit looks great.

AVFD is actually one of only two VOLUNTEER fire stations in Baltimore County with two advanced life support (ALS) medic units. The other is Middle River Volunteer Ambulance Rescue. As far as Baltimore County career stations, there are about five or six that have two ALS medic units.
