Metal Thieves Leave Lansdowne Library Hot Under Collar
Air conditioning units stolen from roof.
When the weather turned muggy this week, the Lansdowne Branch Library and Lansdowne Senior Center made an uncomfortable discovery: somebody stole the copper tubing from the air conditioners on the roof, Arbutus Times reported.
It isn't known how long repairs will take.

The places buying this stuff are the source of the problem. There has to be a way to put controls on how they purchase these metals. Maybe they should be required to make copies of picture I.D. from the sellers and hold the metal for 30 days, to give police a chance to check recent purchases against theft reports. Something has to be done.
