Charges Pending After Wilkens Avenue Crash
One driver, 23, sent to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries after early morning two-car collision.
Charges are pending after an early morning collision between two cars at the intersection of Wilkens Avenue and Wilton Drive in Arbutus that left one driver with potentially life-threatening injuries, according to police.
At about 2:11 a.m. on Dec. 30, a 2001 Plymouth Neon being driven by a 23-year-old was traveling northbound on Wilton Drive and failed to yield right-of-way to a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 62-year-old man traveling eastbound on Wilkens Avenue, police said.
After colliding with the Jeep, the Neon struck a concrete median and a sign post, according to police
The driver of the Neon was transported by ambulance to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver of the Jeep fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by police a short time later. He has been arrested and faces unspecified charges, police said.
The identities of the drivers involved have not been released by police. The crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending, police said.
