Arbutus Poker Game Robbed at Gunpoint

Poker players were robbed on Jan. 10, police said.

A gun-wielding group of men interrupted an Arbutus poker game and robbed players of their money and property on Jan. 10, according to police.

At around 10:30 p.m., three men entered a room at the rear of the 5400-block of East Drive, where a game of poker was being played, police said. One of the men held a shotgun, while another had a handgun.

The men held victims at gunpoint and took money, cell phones and a debit card, according to police.

The suspects were described as black males, one wearing a black mask and carrying a shotgun, another wearing a dark hoodie and holding a black handgun. No description was provided by police for the third suspect.

The robbery victims included at least two men in their 30s, one of whom provided police with an address in Rockville.

Police spokesperson John Wachter said that two rooms, including the room where poker was being played, were rented. The tenant who leased the rooms is not clear, Wachter said, and the incident is still under investigation.
