Arbutus Patch Guide to July 4 Events

A roundup of holiday events in the area.

 

Get your July 4 on early with this Arbutus Patch guide to holiday events and activities.

8:00 a.m.: Arbutus 10K, Arbutus Middle School

9:00 a.m.: Arbutus Soap Box Derby starting line at Elm and Oakland roads. 

9:30 a.m.: Field games, bike decorating and other fun activities for children at Arbor Manor Park, sponsored by the Arbutus Recreation and Parks Council.

10:30 a.m.: Flag-raising ceremony at the Arbutus flag pole at Oregon Drive and Sulphur Spring Road. The American Legion Dewey Lowman Post 109 will be represented with the 27 Flag Unit, as well as local elected officials and bag piper. Ceremony lasts about 30 minutes.

12:29 p.m.: Flyover of Maryland National Guard A-10s in formation over Arbutus.

12:30 p.m.: Parade along Oregon Drive featuring marching bands, cheerleading teams, elected officials, show cars, fire and rescue trucks and the new unit of American Legion Dewey Lowman Post 109--the Legion Riders. Parade route begins at Tom Day Boulevard and ends in the Save-A-Lot parking lot.

6:00 p.m.: Fourth of July at Arbutus United Methodist Church. Includes pit beef and pit pork, double sliders, homemade french fries, hot dogs, assorted desserts. The public is welcome to celebrate the 4th at AUMC and watch the fireworks from Catonsville High School

9:15 p.m.: Fireworks, Catonsville High School athletic field.
