Arbutus Man Dies in OC Boating Incident

Charges are pending against Relay man after body of Jordan Craig Hock, 23, was recovered Sunday morning.

Charges are pending against a Relay man after an Aug. 6 boating incident in Ocean City resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man from Arbutus.

According to Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police, at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, Jordan Craig Hock was "bow riding" on a 24-foot pontoon boat operated by Robert Stanley Holmes, 53, of the 1000 block of Plover Drive.

Hock fell off and went beneath the boat in the Assawoman Bay near 126th Street in Ocean City. "We don't know if it was a sudden stop, or he just slipped," said NRP spokesperson Sgt. Brian Albert.

Holmes and other passengers searched unsuccessfully for Hock, police said. Several agencies participated in a search Saturday night. The search was resumed by NRP police on the morning of Aug. 7, and Hock's body was recovered around 10 a.m.

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the incident, according to police.
